The purpose of this project is to study lateral domain formation in model membrane systems, and to evaluate the effect of lipid structure on domain formation.Other goals are to study the function of enzymes acting at water/lipid interfaces (e.g. cholesterol oxidase, sphingomyelinase) and examine how the quality of the interface determines catalytic efficiency of enzymes. We also want to study the effect of domain formation on enzyme function at membraneous interfaces.
